The Sr. Director Social Media and Influencer Strategy, SBH will develop and oversee the implementation of strategy to create and sustain an engaged and loyal fan base across multiple current and future social platforms including Facebook/Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, Snapchat, YouTube, etc. This role is highly collaborative and will work across the organization with multiple stakeholders to identify opportunities for growth and to measure success.  This role will require a blend of strategic planning, financial acumen, strategic analysis and an understanding of the creator network ecosystem. The ideal candidate is creative yet data driven, has a test and learn mentality, able to define and prove business outcomes, and uses insights to drive engagement and reach with organic channels.




  • Lead the strategic design and execution of SBH brand expression in organic social media channels to drive reach and engagement among its target audience; which in turn results in building brand equity, cultivating relevance and awareness, fostering community, and generating inbound traffic.
  • Maximizing brand social media channels to positively shape the Sally Beauty, CosmoProf and Owned Brands’ experience among customers (retail and pro), industry leaders, media, influencers and associates
  • Lead and manage processes for analyzing and quantifying the reach and impact of our community management tactics, establishing data-driven best practices needed to achieve aligned business outcomes
  • Help define the influencer strategy for social media;  working with the PR, Content and Influencer team to set identify new opportunities for content creation, brand exposure and  partnership cultivation


  • Monitor trends and innovation across social media channels
  • Identify future forward opportunities to expand brand organic presence

  • Set aggressive, market competitive objectives and KPI’s, a sound measurement framework, and a comprehensive plan that’s executed flawlessly
  • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

  • Develop and build social media department to continue delivering best in class results, consistently proving and demonstrating the value of the department as a significant resource for the company

Flawless Execution

  • Develop an operating model with accountable processes to deliver on our social media service vision in a repeatable and scalable way, while accounting for regulatory, brand, and operational challenges
  • Review social engagement processes from end-to-end and build a roadmap to further drive efficiencies and automate processes supporting both customers and team
  • Promote tools and methodologies that generate process improvements required to achieve standardization, efficiency, and high SLA standards


  • Collaborates with the internal Marketing team leaders including E-commerce, Digital Marketing, Content, Influencer, PR and CRM and Category Strategy to support their respective missions through content with a consistent and relevant voice
  • Work cross-functionally with Store Operations, Merchandising, and other teams to identify opportunities to support and leverage social media across the organization
  • Serving as a lead collaborator with key stakeholders to build ongoing relationships, develop new creative ideas and prioritize activities that benefit the SBH enterprise



  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree, (advanced degree preferred) in marketing communications or a related discipline
  • Candidates should have 10+ years of social media and communications experience, with a proven track record of ROI, strategy and execution, and a demonstration of career growth with expanded duties and responsibilities over time
  • Proven experience in launching successful social media campaigns, scaling growth and driving engagement 
  • Successful candidates will possess swift decision making abilities, bring creativity and innovation, understand the integrative social communications, and have a commitment to cultivating and developing their teams
  • Social media channel expert with superior functional experience and deep knowledge on best in class foundations and benchmarks, knowledge of how to be successful in the major social media channels (Youtube, FB/IG, Tiktok, Pinterest, Snapchat, Twitter), and knowledge of how to expand  presence in emerging platforms (Twitch, Discord, etc)
  • Knowledge of relevant social media tools and marketing tech stack, including but not limited to Aspire, Sprinklr, Spredfast, Google Analytics; as well as recommend and identify and test new tools
  • Strong leadership and management skills, proven success building a team and cultivating talent
  • Knowledge and strong interest in pop culture, social platforms and influencer talent
  • Ability to lead teams, and influence cross-functional teams in positive, collaborative working relationships
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the organization with employees at all levels
  • Ability to manage a high volume of projects simultaneously without sacrificing productivity or quality, with impeccable organization skills and attention to detail
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred additional experience

  • Retail, beauty and fashion experience an advantage
  • Familiarity with most forms of quantitative and qualitative media research methodologies and working knowledge of when and how to apply them to challenge
  • In-depth understanding of marketing analytics, consumer and brand research and ability to turn data into insights to drive engagement, conversion and loyalty
  • Brand management/ marketing and/or CRM experience
