Sally Beauty is the world’s largest wholesale and retail distributor of beauty supplies and we have over 3,300 stores carrying over 7,000 professional products for our customers. We are currently searching for a 1st shift Receiving Lead to join our growing team. This position will be responsible for planing, preparing, and coordinating the daily activities of receiving department. This includes the scheduling of receipts appointment, planning of work for the associates and keeping within the 48 hour window of receipts completed.


  • Schedules all receiving appointments based on incoming volume and known workload. Determines the workload for the associates based on the arrival date of receipts
  • Unloads the semi trucks, receives in the product and places pallets in staging areas
  • Creates, updates and emails receiving information on a daily
  • Communicates with associates at the beginning of each shift. During this time daily changes or information is shared so the associates are informed and can efficiently accomplish the set objectives. During this time warm up activities will also take place, if required
  • Communicates daily with procurement team to resolve purchase order, vendor and trucking issues
  • Trains associates in the receiving processes to include breaking down pallets, computer work and packing slip paperwork
  • Ensure that departments work is done in an accurate manner including that the items are received in the correct quantity against the correct PO and put away to the correct locations. This facilitates that other actions can be done accurately all the way to the shipping product to the customers
  • Capability to be able to effectively communicate with associates and members of management

    Achieve labor budgets through innovation utilization of labor hours
  • Maintains the standard of 24 hours average receiving in purchase orders
  • All other duties as assigned by management


  • Experience with Manhattan WMoS (2010 or later) is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a distribution center environment
  • Must be physically able to complete essential job duties and pass a Job Placement Assessment Test
  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables where only limited standardization exists
  • Attention to detail as well as accuracy in dealing with arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated


The work involves moderate risks or discomforts, which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; with irritant chemicals; etc. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves or shields.


The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress, which require a range of safety and other precautions.


The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.


The position requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as shipment or record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.


The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing of tall ladders; lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling or strenuous physical exertion.
