The Vice President, Category Marketing & Operations is primarily responsible for increasing sales and growing our customer base by creating and implementing effective strategic category plans, across Owned Brands, Categories and vendors, that include relevant market analysis, identification and engagement across all channels of communication. Additionally, the Vice President, Category Marketing and Operations strategically leads all field marketing and local-level support, ensuring that in-store and grassroots marketing initiatives align with corporate objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs cohesive category/product marketing strategy to drive SBS and BSG store traffic, brand preference and sales overall and across specific consumer targets. Lead go-to-market planning cross-functionally, working closely with leaders of Media & Content, CRM, Creative and E-commerce to develop multi-channel campaigns across all touch points.
  • Works closely with merchandising partners to develop and operationalize go-to-market brand/vendor plans. Oversee a team of category marketing professionals charged with delivering strong brand/vendor strategy and stewardship, national and local advertising and detailed brand/vendor specific marketing plans.  Responsible for articulating product and category positioning, developing launch and other marketing tools to grow category share. 
  • Research, analyze and develop holistic marketing plan for Owned Brand portfolio, partnering with VP’s of Product Development and Merchandising, to create relevant and differentiated positioning strategies, ensure alignment and consistency of message across all consumer touch points and best-in-class launch execution.
  • Build field marketing department capabilities, recruit and lead a team across U.S. and Canada for both BSG and Sally; identify key consumer/customer segments by region/store and develop local -level strategy, including all grassroots campaigns and in-store execution.
  • Sets department and channel goals and KPI's.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing or related field; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of experience with category and product strategy, consumer insights, and executing large-scale, complex marketing programs
  • Strong omni-channel retail marketing and operation experience, particularly in collaboration with Merchandising to build both brand/category-specific and company-wide marketing plans across channels
  • Success building a field marketing organization, and translating corporate priorities and strategy into tactical store execution
  • Talented leader and manager of internal and external teams, with skill scaling a department
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
