    This position should possess a strong background in garnishment calculations, payroll processing, and regulatory requirements. This individual is responsible for entering and monitoring all garnishments. This includes ensuring all garnishments are set up appropriately according to the order and state requirements, all communications to various garnishment agencies are being completed timely and efficiently, and all changes entered as needed. This person will also work proactively to identify issues, review garnishment reports for accuracy, and coordinate issue resolution.

    Responsibilities

    • Interpret all garnishments/court orders to ensure they are assessed, calculated, and implemented timely according to all applicable laws and regulations by state. Analyze and resolve any discrepancies in deductions and payment transactions. Accountable for the remittance and reconciliations of all court orders and payments. Research and resolve general ledger variances. Correspond with the Legal department and various government offices regarding any outstanding issues
    • Proactively identifies and researches potential garnishment processing and system issues and recommends course of action to ensure compliance and limit risk. Serve as Payroll expert on all garnishment compliance processes and related system enhancements. Assist with the resolution of all issues. Defines and executes user testing plan to ensure updates are implemented correctly
    • Stays current and communicates effectively regarding garnishment federal and multi-state regulatory requirements, emerging industry trends, and company policies that affect garnishments. Understands the complete garnishment cycle and impact on the Company from receipt through payment and act as the SME on garnishments, training new employees as needed
    • Assists the Payroll Specialists in resolving employee garnishment questions through effective analysis of the issues. Develop and implement payroll garnishment processes and procedures. Responsible for department tasks not directly associated payroll processing
    • Audit escheatment filings by state and prepare documentation for Tax filings, regulatory reporting, and other special projects as needed

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent certification required
    • Associate’s Degree preferred
    • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
    • 3-5 years’ experience in payroll administration and garnishment processing
    • Working knowledge of federal, state and local garnishment laws
    • Good math/accounting skills, helpful
    • Ability to handle confidential information
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Working knowledge of personal computers
    • Proficient in Excel and Word
    • Knowledge of Lawson and Oracle HCM Cloud
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Must be detailed oriented
    • Ability to think beyond the current processes and update as needed
    • Ability to work independently – self starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Understanding of urgency of deadlines and financial impact
