    Sally Beauty Holdings (NYSE: SBH) is the world’s largest wholesale and retail distributor of beauty supplies.  Our world headquarters is conveniently located in Denton Texas, just 5 minutes north of Lake Lewisville off of I35E. We currently have an opening for a Payroll Supervisor.


    The Payroll Supervisor will supervise payroll staff ensuring timely and accurate processing of the payroll.


    • Manages and develops staff, prepares work schedules and assigns specific duties.  Interviews, hires and trains new employees; may determine staffing requirements.  Ensures payroll validation is performed each pay cycle by payroll staff.
    • Monitors the payroll interfaces and accurately reports payroll costs on the general ledger. Assist in verifying employment, income, and requests related to garnishment.
    • Supervises technical and functional processes to ensure transactional accuracy and improvements to the payroll process.  Develops, recommends, and implements systems and procedural changes for the Payroll Department
    • Provides information, possible solutions and research to employees. Maintains expert knowledge of payroll principles and procedures and implements changes as needed.  
    • Prepares and reviews complex work state analysis and calculates work state changes as needed. Reviews gross to net and net-to-net pay comparison reports to validate payroll each pay cycle for assigned business units.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    • High school degree; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
    • Solid understanding of state payroll tax laws and regulations and is able to relay that knowledge to the payroll staff.
    • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or other payroll certification preferred
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
    • 4-5 years of payroll and related experience.
    • Lawson and Kronos experience preferred.
    • Sarbanes-Oxley experience preferred.
    • General ledgers experience a plus.
    • Must be proficient in MSW, Excel, and Kronos.
    • Substantial knowledge of payroll requirements including payroll taxes, employee benefit programs, 401(k), garnishments, disability and other self-directed deduction programs.
    • Team player who is a change agent with the proven ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines and the willingness to work extra hours if needed.
    • Strong customer service skills with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Payroll system enhancement experience helpful. Ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex business problems related to automated systems and operations
