Overview

Sally Beauty Holdings (NYSE: SBH) is the world's largest wholesale and retail distributor of beauty supplies. Our world headquarters is conveniently located in Denton Texas, just 5 minutes north of Lake Lewisville off of I35E. 

 

We currently have an opening for a Buyer within our Sally Beauty Merchandising team. This position is responsible for buying merchandise for resale to consumers at the retail level.  Analyzes past buying trends, sales performance, pricing, and forecasts for future demand.  Works closely with the Category Manager to selects, orders, and complete appropriate new item set up paperwork.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, owns and is responsible for all buying aspects of their assigned category
  • Review/place/maintain orders to ensure optimal warehouse/store product inventory for designated vendors
    • Includes transfers, special orders, autos, Miss-Ships, RTVs, defectives, revision of POs due to price changes, etc.
    • Ensures all costs are accurate, whether they are regular, special cost, ad, markdown, etc.
    • Maintains/manages budget log to ensure optimal inventory spending / reviews with Category Manager on a consistent basis
  • Forecasts all items including existing, new, seasonal, advertised, autos, off-shelf merchandising, IOM, etc. items
  • Reviews reports to ensure optimal inventory levels
    • Daily DL, receiving, expediting, pending disc, etc.
  • Participates and helps prep for major vendor meetings with Category Manager
  • Special projects / additional duties as determined by CM and/or Director

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years purchasing experience, preferably in retail or health and beauty supplies
  • 1-3-years general retail operations experience.
  • Knowledge of the beauty industry and available equipment and fixtures is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in various environments
  • Ability to work with multiple departments and various levels of management
  • Ability to present and maintain a professional image and relationship with vendors and other departmental staff.
