Overview

Sally Beauty Holdings (NYSE: SBH) is the world’s largest wholesale and retail distributor of beauty supplies.  Our world headquarters is conveniently located in Denton Texas, just 5 minutes north of Lake Lewisville off of I35E. We currently have an opening for a Sr. Paralegal. 

 

Our Sr. Paralegal, manages and drives the daily functions of labor and employment matters within the Legal department and on behalf of the company as a whole.  Conducts privileged investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or other improper behaviors related to employees of the Company.  Drafts the Company’s responses and processes related to employment administrative agency charges and private individuals’ complaints related to employment practices, including EEOC, DOL, and similar state agencies. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Conducts investigations, provides recommendations and counseling, and provides written analyses of complaints related to the Company’s employment practices, including intake, management, and resolution of EEOC charges, state agency charges, internal complaints, external complaints, and other employment-related disputes. 
  • Manages employment-related litigation for the Company, including collecting relevant data, issuing document retention holds, responding to written discovery, coordinating interviews and depositions, and managing overall litigation. 
  • Manages and updates Company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable labor and employment standards for the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. 
  • Ensures compliance with the company’s ethics and EEO policies both personally and within the organizations managed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal certificate preferred
  • 5+ years in-house/law firm experience in employment-related matters or employment litigation
  • Experience handling responses to EEOC charges, state agency charges, third-party complaints, and other employment-related complaints preferred
  • Experience handling disputes in multiple venues (not solely the State of Texas) preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/Access)
  • Ability to write legal documents strongly and persuasively
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team dynamic
  • Knowledge of legal implications of company policies and practices
  • Excellent investigative, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative to address problems and make continuous process improvements
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to organize, multi-task, and prioritize
  • Discretion and good judgment necessary to deal with highly confidential and sensitive matters
  • Ability to interface with various levels of management
  • Ability to accept change and to work in a dynamic, flexible role
