Sally Beauty Holdings (NYSE: SBH) is the world's largest wholesale and retail distributor of beauty supplies.  Our world headquarters is conveniently located in Denton Texas, just 5 minutes north of Lake Lewisville off of I35E.

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Category Manager to join our growing team!  The Senior Category is responsible for the day to day management and execution of business processes to maximize sales and gross margin objectives, while managing inventory objectives for specific brands. Works actively with the Category Director in developing strategic objectives to ensure long term sustained growth.

Responsibilities

  • Actively manages the promotional buying process and measures sell through to achieve the highest possible sell through of each promotional buy. Actively manages the flyer building and buying process ensuring that all deadlines are adhered to. Measures the effectiveness of the advertising offer through sell through. Manages the pricing process to ensure accuracy and a competitive position.
  • Researches, analyzes and draw conclusions from customers, data, vendors, needs, and task analyses to provide a concise, logical merchandising focus. Identifies and promotes new products and trends in a timely manner to maximize sales potential.
  • Aggressively negotiates with vendors to reduce costs and increase margins. Negotiate special terms, discounts, allowances and payment dating in all appropriate opportunities.
  • Executes forward buying plans on major price increases and promotional opportunities. Ensure accuracy of costs and pricing at all times.
  • Identifies and devises profitable exit strategies, including vendor participation, of slow selling items, discontinued items, package changes and poor promotional sell through.
  • Manages freight cost effectively in relationship to the daily ordering process. Manages inventory levels to meet company objectives of planned weeks on hand/ on order by vendor and SKU. Manages vendor partners in inventory productivity including any negotiations required to maximize inventory turns.
  • Attends vendor meetings and tradeshow presentations to identify sales opportunities through new products, trends and competitive strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/ Purchasing preferred
  • CPP certification preferred
  • 3-5 years purchasing or merchandising experience in related field. Consumer goods and services preferred
  • JDA experience preferred
  • Computer skills including AS 400 Operating system, Excel Spreadsheet, Microsoft Word and Outlook e-mail
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills combined with high creative potential
  • Ability to multi task with accuracy
  • Leadership qualities and work ethics that dictate the standards for the department
  • Ability to communicate with and influence all levels of staff
