Sally Beauty Holdings (NYSE: SBH) is the world's largest wholesale and retail distributor of beauty supplies.  Our world headquarters is conveniently located just 5 minutes north of Lake Lewisville off of I35E in Denton, TX.  


We are currently searching for a Payroll Processing Manager to join our growing team!  This person will manage payroll staff, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for multi state, weekly and bi-weekly, exempt and non-exempt employees.  Supervise the garnishment process to ensure we are in complete compliance with all federal and state laws.  Ensure complete compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley standards and requirements.


  • Manage staff, to ensure complete and accurate payroll processing.  Train and develop staff including coaching and counseling.  Interviews, hires and trains new employees; may determine staffing requirements.
  • Prepare and review complex work state analysis and calculate work state changes as needed.  Review gross to net and net-to-net pay comparison reports to validate payroll each pay cycle for assigned business units.
  • Extract data from the payroll system for auditing, legal, statutory and financial purposes.  Liaison with Compliance and Legal departments in response to subpoenas and Dept of Labor inquiries.  Audit benefit / time-off plans.
  • Manage / audit all Payroll GL adjustment entries.  Monitor payroll interfaces and accurately report payroll costs on the general ledger.  Assist in verifying employment, income and requests related to garnishments.
  • Work with HRIS to test technical processes to help improve payroll processes, and ensure all functions are working properly and accurately.  Develop, recommend, and implement systems and procedural changes for the Payroll Department.  
  • Provides information, possible solutions and research to employees.  Maintains knowledge of payroll principles and procedures and implements changes as needed.
  • Supervisor the payroll processing and data entry for high level and confidential associates
  • Assist Director of Payroll and back-up Payroll Supervisors.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred
  • Proficient in state payroll tax laws and regulations and is able to relay that knowledge to the payroll staff
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) required of other payroll certification.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • 7-10 years of payroll and related experience
  • 5 years of multi-state payroll
  • Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge
  • General ledger experience
  • Substantial knowledge of payroll requirements including payroll taxes, employee benefit programs, 401(k), garnishments, disability and other self-directed deduction programs
  • Team player who is a change agent with the proven ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines and the willingness to work extra hours if needed
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Payroll system enhancement experience helpful.  Ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex business problems related to automated systems and operations
  • Knowledge of the generally accepted payroll and accounting principles
